Saving The World
My main goal going into today was to get saving and loading working, which I did, though I am not yet saving the data I want to save. I realized quickly that I had yet to implement the features I wanted to save, so before I could save the player’s name I had to let the player input their name. Super sloppy speed coding time to get a basic Character Creator coded annnd… It doesn’t work. I think I know why, but I’m super done tonight.
Bring it back to the positive: I understand… enough… of how saving and loading data to a file works in GMS 2. I’d like to have a better grasp of it, and I was getting frustrated with the documentation, but for now I am saving and loading and that is good.
I’m not sure what to do next. As the code I wrote continued to get more and more ad hoc I knew I needed to write and organize a proper game manager, but I’d also like to flesh out some story ideas and either make or get some sprites the look presentable, though I do kind of like how this test room looks
